About Jeff Lehman & Death Doula Miami

Death Doula Miami was founded to offer compassionate, practical, and nonjudgmental support to individuals and families facing the end of life. Guided by personal experience and a deep commitment to service, Jeff Lehman created Death Doula Miami to help others navigate one of life’s most challenging and sacred transitions.

With years of experience witnessing both the pain and the peace that can accompany death, Jeff understands the profound difference that open conversation, thoughtful planning, and compassionate presence can make. Having supported friends, family, and community members through their final days, Jeff brings a unique blend of empathy, organization, and calm to every situation.

Jeff believes that no two end-of-life journeys are the same. He respects the wishes, beliefs, and needs of each client and their circle of care, always centering the person who is dying as the primary guide in every decision. Jeff’s approach is rooted in deep listening, practical assistance, and a commitment to helping clients and families find meaning, closure, and peace.

Meet Jeff Lehman

Mission

Guided by my own experiences with death and more than 40 years in hospitality, my mission is to bring humanity, dignity, and compassion to the dying process. I aim to address the gaps in end-of-life care, helping individuals resolve unfinished business, face their fears, and find peace. With a steady, compassionate presence when it matters most, I walk alongside patients and their loved ones, supporting them through the transition from care into bereavement, and helping create a good death.

Vision

My vision is shaped by my own experiences with death and more than 40 years in hospitality—years spent learning how presence, attention, and care can transform even the most difficult moments. I seek to bring a deeper sense of humanity, dignity, and compassion to the dying process, especially when the end is near. By addressing the shortcomings I have witnessed in end-of-life care, I strive to help individuals resolve unfinished business, face fears and regrets, and find peace. I am committed to walking alongside patients and their loved ones, serving as an advocate and also a steady bridge from care into bereavement. With patience, knowledge, and love, I also aim to help families navigate the hospice experience and to create what can best be described as a good death.

What Makes Death Doula Miami Different

Experience-Informed Care: Jeff has personally experienced many aspects of death, both as a loved one and as a support professional. This perspective allows him to bring both practical wisdom and emotional understanding to each client relationship.

Holistic Support: Death Doula Miami “fills in the gaps” left by medical, spiritual, or social work services, providing presence, planning, and emotional support that honors the whole person and their family.

RUGS Framework: Jeff helps clients address Regrets, Unfinished business, Guilt, and Shame—what he calls “RUGS”—to create space for healing and closure.

No Task Too Small or Large: From sitting vigil during imminent death to helping organize paperwork, Jeff is ready to help with whatever is needed.

Ethical & Transparent: In Florida, Death Doula Miami does not assist with medical assistance in dying (MAID) but can provide information on where such services may be available. All work is provided with honesty, respect, and confidentiality.
